GXPD 31 - More Choices and Scroll Bar not Working in Print Dialog (1-Aug-95)

Important for all Apple Printing and Graphics Developers:

The information in this Technical Q & A is still relevant up to and including Mac OS 7.6 with QuickDraw GX 1.1.5. Beginning with the release of Mac OS 8.0, however, Apple plans to deliver a system which incorporates QuickDraw GX graphics and typography only. QuickDraw GX printer drivers and GX printing extensions will not be supported in Mac OS 8.0 or in future Mac OS releases. Apple's goal is to simplify the user experience of printing by unifying the Macintosh graphic and printing architectures and standardizing on the classic Printing Manager.

Q We are adding QuickDraw GX printing support to an application. When the Page Setup and Print dialogs are displayed, they work normally (we see normal behavior when we click on the icons), except that the More Choices icons don't highlight, and the scrollbar for the icon list isn't drawn (when needed).

The application doesn't seem to be doing anything obvious that should cause this. Where should we look to troubleshoot this?

A It's possible that the port into which the icons and the scrollbar are drawn is set, while the GDevice is not. This would allow you to draw, but would not give you controls.
